I believe we can change the world, one good deed at a time. Are you a do-gooder that looks for opportunities to spread hope, love and light to the world? Are you planning a trip, but want to do something more substantial than just lounging around for a few days? Well, volunteer vacations might be the thing for you.
Volunteer vacations, aka voluntourism, is traveling with purpose; doing meaningful volunteer work wile vacationing. Rather than simply donating money to a cause that you believe in, give your time and effort and make a difference while you travel.
These trips can be as elaborate or as basic as you want them to be. You decide whether you want to volunteer your time here in the U.S. or abroad; for a day or two, or even a month. Your options are endless as far as where to go and what to do: environmental conservation, teach English overseas, work with wildlife, etc.
I’m planning a trip to New Orleans soon. The first day of my trip will be a day of service. That will be my way of giving back to the community while experiencing a destination rich in culture and charm. There are power and benefits in doing good. When we help each other, we incidentally help the world as a whole. Let’s vacation with purpose and have fun while helping those in need; making the world a better place, one good deed at a time. Be blessed and happy travels!
